    You can do, but they don’t give heat exactly where you want it so there is a higher risk of the screen being damaged when removing it.

    As an alternative for your broken home button, you can use the Assistive Touch. Just go to Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > On

    Instead of a shim I have used a dot of gel superglue. Allow it to dry and it makes a shim. Make sure you use the gel although, not the liquid. And it is best to apply the dot of glue with a small tipped instrument, so that you can get it directly in the center of the button.

    The 5th gen touch is a different home button circuit, it could be a similar issue, we would need to see it to check.

    Hi, no we use special heaters that heat the screen to soften the screen adhesive
